The Leadership Path: Between Lack and Fulfilment, Between Love and Hatred

In November 2024, Vilnius hosted the World Leadership Conference 2024, bringing together leaders, thinkers, and practitioners to reflect on the challenges of leadership in a complex and changing world.

The presentation “The Leadership Path: Between Lack and Fulfilment, Between Love and Hatred” explored leadership as a journey shaped by tension, limitation, and human complexity.

Rather than presenting leadership as a state of certainty or control, the talk emphasized that leaders operate between opposing forces – between scarcity and abundance, between connection and conflict.

Key ideas included:

  • lack as a condition that sharpens responsibility and decision-making
  • fulfilment not as a final state, but as a dynamic and evolving process
  • the role of emotional and moral tensions in shaping leadership choices
  • the importance of self-awareness in navigating contradictions

The session highlighted that leadership cannot be separated from human nature. Emotions such as trust, empathy, frustration, and even conflict are not obstacles to leadership, but integral elements of it.

Understanding and accepting these tensions allows leaders to act more consciously, rather than reactively.

In a world that often seeks simple solutions and clear answers, the presentation offered a more realistic perspective: leadership is not about eliminating contradictions, but about learning to navigate them responsibly.

By embracing both limitation and possibility, leaders can build more resilient organizations and more meaningful relationships.
