Education Centre

Educational activities comprise an integral part of LFMI’s work. The Education Centre focuses on providing high quality education by means of organizing courses, training sessions as well as providing interactive, innovative and attracting teaching methods of economics.

Economics in 31 Hours | A textbook of next generation for Lithuanian pupils and an interactive teaching material for teachers of economics aimed at the development of the understanding of economics among youth in Lithuania. Library | LFMI’s library contains over 4,000 publications in a number of languages and focuses on Austrian economic thought. It contains books on economic history and philosophy, business, management, non-government organizations, etc.
 
Economics in ActionAn interactive platform for students aimed at enhancing the skills necessary to critically assess the social impact of different economic processes and understand the contemporary economic reality. Realistic Analysis of Economics II | Courses of economics for students aimed at enhancing their knowledge of Austrian economics.
 
E-Dictionary | An interactive open online database of economic terminology that focuses on Austrian economic thought.
 

Thought Leader – Herald of Reforms

A programme aimed at convincing public leaders that direct government involvement in economic activities is harmful and inefficient while the freedom to act is the actual source of prosperity. This programme covers a number of different projects and initiatives.

Let’s Agree | Through this initiative we aim to equip members of local communities with necessary skills to engage in sound and meaningful discussions and reach peaceful and constructive agreements with other community members. I Pay Taxes | An initiative aimed at raising taxpayer awareness of the tax bill levied on employee and the employer and the allocation of these tax revenues by providing an attractive and easy-to-use tax calculator at www.mokumokescius.lt.
 
Scarcity, Morality and Public Policy | A project based on multidisciplinary research on scarcity and aimed at finding out how monetary, labour, welfare state and paternalistic policies affect morality of individuals and the society. Doing Business | An initiative aimed at building the case for needed legislative and regulatory changes and shifts in the existing regulatory practices in Lithuania in the areas of dealing with licenses, getting electricity and paying taxes.
 
Municipal Performance Index | A programme aimed at building the case for policy change at a local government level. In 2014, the Index was awarded Atlas Network’s prestigious Templeton Freedom Award for its success in the promotion of human freedom, prosperity and innovation. ——–Shadow Economies in the Baltic Region | A comprehensive analysis of shadow economies in the Baltic States, Poland, Sweden and Belarus aimed at advancing better-informed policy debates and sound policy solutions for reducing the shadow economies in the Baltic Sea region.
 
Government Watch | A comprehensive analysis of relevant pending Lithuanian and EU legislation projects aimed at raising public awareness and initiating a well-informed public debate by providing independent and critical review of pending legislation. More Liberal Voices | We are supporting the liberal agenda in EU decision-making and promoting the adoption of liberal solutions in key areas of public policy.
