LFMI’s comments on a draft law on renewable energy

In this policy analysis LFMI presents its comments and recommendations for a draft law on renewable energy.
A commentary on Lithuania’s assumed obligations to increase the use of renewable energy resources, “The Green Energy Mustn’t Be the Costly Energy”, by LFMI’s Senior Policy Analyst Žilvinas Šilėnas was posted on the Internet portal Delfi.lt. The author regrets that given the income of Lithuanian people, they are too high and will further the rise in energy prices. He also contends that if competition was let into the RER sector and if the state’s policy focused on the interests of consumers rather those of producers, Lithuania would be able to fulfil the assumed obligations, at the same time safeguarding consumers from a groundless price rise.
