Government watch. Position paper on drug reimbursement and accessibility

The Lithuanian Free Market Institute (hereinafter LFMI) has examined amendments to the plan on improving drug reimbursement, pricing and accessibility proposed by the Ministry of Health and put forward its remarks and proposals. LFMI argues that in order to improve the pricing of drugs and their accessibility to citizens, it is important to secure competition and proper business conditions in the pharmaceutical market. LFMI has proposed eliminating unjustified regulations (such as restrictions relating to the premises space of pharmacies, working hours, and drug import) and outlined specific measures that would create conditions for pharmacies to reduce drug prices.
