In his commentary posted on the portal Alfa.lt, LFMI policy analyst Vytautas Žukauskas discusses the alleged recovery of economy, declared by the government. The expert notes that an increase of one indicator may be of little meaning to the majority of population; it can, however, be unduly considered a significant indication of economic recovery. Covering some of the most important economic indicators, he analyses the so called misery index and asserts that no matter how “perfectly“ shaped and calculated they might be, separate economic indicators will not be able to give an unbiased and precise picture of the economic situation of the country. It is important that articulated on the basis of these indicators, the purported improvement should not impede the necessary reorganization and reforms.
