Pay when told by the authorities

A commentary by the LLRI junior policy analyst Emilis Ruželė posted on the portal Alfa.lt on the desire of the government to establish the payment period for agricultural products and the interest rates that the buyer is obliged to pay in the case of a delayed payment. The analyst explains why this kind of interference by the authorities is unjust and harmful. The authorities should not regulate contractual relations in buying either agricultural or any other products as such actions distort the market, undermine competition and increases the burden on businesses.
