Žilvinas Šilėnas, LFMI’s Policy Analyst commented on the famous recent initiatives – the relocation of IT centre of “Barclays” to Lithuania, the plans to build a milk processing plant and governmental subsidies involved. Government should help businesses by reducing taxes and red-tape, not by taking away money from one group and giving to another. Competition will decide what business should expand and what should fail; it is not the function of the state to pick winners and losers. The commentary was published in a weekly magazine Veidas.
