Vilnius, May 8, 2015 – the Lithuanian Free Market Institute (LFMI) hosted a seminar “Community, investment and environment: how to evaluate, participate and communicate” for local communities in the Vilnius district.
The seminar was a part of the newest LFMI initiative Let’s Agree through which we aim to equip members of local communities with necessary skills to engage in sound and meaningful stakeholders when it comes to deciding on the environment we live in.
The seminar was attended by 15 representatives of Vilnius district local communities as well as the representatives of the Investment Department of Vilnius District Municipality. The seminar addressed the following questions: How to evaluate public policy decisions on investment projects? What constitutional rights are relevant? What environmental and socio-economic aspects need to be evaluated? How to effectively participate in the decision-making processes? How to formulate a well-informed and sound position and effectively communicate? How to communicate with the media?
We will be visiting 15 Lithuanian municipalities as part of this initiative. On May 15 we are going to meet local communities in the Alytus region.
