In 23rd of October and 6th of November Lithuanian Free Market Institute was hosting a practical workshop “Community, investment and environment: how to evaluate, participate and communicate” for local communities and NGOs of Klaipėda and Vilkaviškis Regions with the aim to equip members of local communities with necessary skills to engage in sound and meaningful discussions and reach peaceful and constructive agreements with other community members.
Together with LFMI President Žilvinas Šilėnas and Junior Policy Analysts Eglė Užmiškytė and Dominykas Šumskis, local media and municipal representatives, the participants will tackle the following questions: how to evaluate public policy decisions on investment projects? What constitutional rights are relevant? What are the most effective ways of communication with different stakeholders and the media? How to advance well-informed arguments? Moreover, the workshop will employ case studies on investment projects and two publications – A Handbook on Participation and Communication and A Handbook on Coordination and Agreement – specifically designed for local community needs in Lithuania.
The seminar is a part of LFMI’s initiative Let‘s Agree through which we aim to equip the population with the necessary skills to reasonably discuss issues and reach a peaceful, but beneficial, agreement with other community members.
